Description
Isabella, Countess of Buchan, was imprisoned by Edward I at Berwick Castle from 1306-13 because she had participated in King Robert the Bruce's coronation. She was from the family of the Earls of Fife who had the hereditary right to crown the Scottish king. The painting is by the Dundee artist Stewart Carmichael and dates from 1908.
