This is a restored copy of Cat Nap, oil on canvas, circa 1895 by Dutch-Belgian painter Henriette Ronner Knip, 1821-1909, who is famous for her cat paintings. This painting depicts a young brown and white short haired domestic cat contentedly curled up on a blue pillow while resting.
Henriëtte Ronner-Knip, 1821–1909, was a Dutch-Belgian artist who painted in the Romantic style and who is best known for her animal paintings; especially cats. In 1887 she was awarded the Order of Leopold and, in 1901, became a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. Knip often exhibited with her son Alfred and daughters Alice and Emma also became artists.
