This is a reproduction of an authentic vintage 1928 poster promotion for the Gonzales County, Texas Rodeo which was sponsored by the Gonzales County Fair Association. The poster advertises Texas cowboy culture events at the rodeo which include cowboys, cowgirls, Fog Horn Clancy, American Legion Band, bronco busting, outlaws, longhorn steers, bucking horses, bucking broncos, calf roping, wild steer riding, Roman races, wild steer wrestling, bulldogging and other cowboy sports.
Rodeo is a competitive equestrian sport that arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain and Mexico, expanding throughout the Americas and to other nations. Originally based on the skills required of the working vaqueros and later, cowboys, in what today is the western United States, western Canada, and northern Mexico.
