Description
This design is based upon the mid 19th century heirloom hand woven saltillo serapes made of wool and cotton from Mesoamerica and, in particular, the Coahuila region of northern Mexico. This ancient tribal folk design combines Hispanic and indigenous Pre-Columbian Aztec and Mayan elements.
Saltillo, is the capital and biggest city of the Mexican state of Coahuila. Mexico City, Monterrey, and Saltillo are all tied together by a major railroad and highway.
