This is a restored copy of St. Michael the Archangel, a circa 1480 oil on canvas by Spanish painter Miguel Ximenez, 1462-1505.
Ximenez, a Spanish Gothic painter was recorded as being in Saragossa between 1462 and 1505. Ximenez was made King Ferdinand II of Aragon's official painter on 11 May 1484 and he impacted the artwork of Bartolomé Bermejo. There are influences of Ximenez work in the creations of MartÃn Bernat.
Archangel Michael is the Prince of Angels. He is the leader of the angels in the fight against Satan and the dragon. Saint Michael is the patron saint of police, military, radiologists, sailors, military, paramedics, EMT, emergency medical technicians, firemen, people who work in dangerous conditions, security guards, and he is the protector of the Chosen People of the Old Testament. Saint Michael is also the messenger of God, the warrior of God, the angel of healing and the angel of death who protects and guides souls on their journey to heaven.
