Description
Reproduction of: Summer Silhouette, circa 1922 by William Herbert Dunton, American, 1878-1936. Oil on canvas.
W. H. "Buck" Dunton was an American artist and a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists. He is noted for paintings of cowboys, New Mexico, and the American Southwest.
In this southwestern landscape we see a bear foraging under a large glowing tree, possibly a cottonwood, on the banks of a rushing rural stream. The bear turns his head while looking back at the viewer.
This is likely to be a northern New Mexico scene painted in the Sangre de Cristo hills above Taos or Santa Fe.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
