Artist's Description

This is a reproduction of the Jina Buddha mural from the central Tibetan Kadampa Monastery which was painted circa 1200 AD.
The Kadampa school of Tibetan Buddhism was an 11th century Buddhist tradition founded by the great Bengali master Atiśa and his students like Dromtön, a Tibetan Buddhist lay master. The Kadampa stressed compassion, pure discipline and study. The most evident teachings of that tradition were the graduated teachings on the Mahayana path.
Tibetan Buddhism is the form of Buddhism practiced in Tibet and Bhutan, where it is the dominant religion. It also has adherents in the regions surrounding the Himalayas, in much of Central Asia, in the Southern Siberian regions such as Tuva, and in Mongolia.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.

About Peter Ogden

Peter Ogden

I have been a visual artist since the 1960s. I'm originally from Orange County, New York, located in the Metro New York City region where I was raised on the working dairy farm [Ogden Farm] which my family founded in 1832. I graduated from Bucknell University where I majored in art which included a semester in Florence studying Italian Renaissance art. After Bucknell I studied at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. I have lived throughout the U.S. [including three years in Sante Fe, New Mexico], in the Caribbean and in Mexico and Central America. I now reside in the 19th century...
