Description
This is a restored copy of a chromolithograph pug dog portrait originally printed in 1890 as part of an edition of collectible cards titled "Dogs of the World".
The pug is a domestic dog breed characterized by a wrinkled, pushed in face and a short curly tail. Pugs, originally from China, have a very short haired, shiny coat that is seen in various colors, most frequently being pale brown or black. The pug has a compact, boxy body with prominent muscles.
In ancient times the pug was a popular guard dog of Chinese emperors, Tibetan Buddhist monks and European royalty and aristocracy.
NOTE: This design only works on a white background.
