This is a restored copy of Virgin of Guadalupe and the Four Apparitions, an oil on copper painting created in 1773 by Mexican painter Nicolas Enriquez Vargas, 1704-1790. This image is regarded as one of the most important images of Mexican culture. The most famous words from the legend of this, Our Lady of Guadalupe, are: "¿No estoy yo aquà que soy tu madre?" ("Am I not here, I who am your mother?"). The original painting that this image is copied from is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
