Description
This is a restored copy of Immodest, an 1897 oil on canvas painting by Henriette Ronner Knip. This European Victorian painting depicts an adorable domestic mother cat as she watches her numerous frisky cute kittens frolicking in a large antique wooden dresser.
Henriëtte Ronner-Knip, 1821–1909, was a Dutch-Belgian artist who painted in the Romantic style and is best known for her animal paintings; especially cats. In 1887 she was awarded the Order of Leopold and, in 1901, became a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. Her son Alfred and daughters Alice and Emma also became artists. She often exhibited with them.
