A vampire is a creature from folklore that subsists by feeding on the vital essence of the living. In European folklore, vampires are undead creatures that often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighbourhoods they inhabited while they were alive.
Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter. His best known work, The Scream, has become an iconic image of the art world. His childhood was overshadowed by illness, bereavement and the dread of inheriting a mental condition that ran in the family.
