Description
This is a restored copy of a circa 1934 black and white photograph of Moffett Federal Airfield Base in Santa Clara County near Mountain View, Sunnyvale and San Francisco, California; an area also popularly known as Silicon Valley.
Moffett Federal Airfield is also known as Moffett Field. It is a shared civil military airport. In late 2014, NASA notified the public that it would be leasing 1,000 acres of the airbase facilities to Google for 60 years.
This airbase is near southern San Francisco Bay, northwest of San Jose. Moffett Field was once a US Navy operations center. This one time naval air station is currently owned and managed by the NASA Ames Research Center. Current military operations feature the 129th Rescue Wing of the California Air National Guard, operating the HC-130J Combat King II and HH-60G Pave Hawk aircraft, along with the nearby Headquarters for the 7th Psychological Operations Group of the US Army Reserve. Up to July 2010, the US Air Force 21st Space Operations Squadron was also operating a command at Moffett Field, located at the previous Onizuka Air Force Station. NASA administers a few aircraft from Moffett Field.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
