Description
This is a restored copy of an 1885 California Street San Francisco Cable Railroad Company stock certificate featuring a late nineteenth century antique Victorian era San Francisco, California detailed graphic of an early antique San Francisco trolley street car and its operator or motorman.
The California Street Cable Railroad aka Cal Cable, was a long operating cable car company in San Francisco, California. It was launched by Leland Stanford. CSCR's first line cable street car transit service started on California Street in 1878 and is the senior cable car line that continues to operate on an hourly basis daily.
This service remained privately owned until 1951, continuing longer than all other profit making streetcar and cable car services in San Francisco. The municipality bought and reopened the street car routes in 1952. Today's San Francisco street car trolley system is a combination of the California Street line, and the Hyde Street portion of Cal Cable's O'Farrell, Jones & Hyde service.
The Fine Art America watermark does not appear on the final product.
