Description
This is a restored copy of circa 1890s Victorian chromolithograph of an arctic polar bear which was produced as a collectible souvenir advertising card by Allen and Ginter Cigarette Company of Virginia.
Allen & Ginter was a Richmond, Virginia, tobacco manufacturing company formed by John F. Allen and Lewis Ginter around 1880. The firm created and marketed the first cigarette cards for collecting and trading in the United States.
The polar bear is a hypercarnivorous bear whose native range lies largely within the Arctic Circle, encompassing the Arctic Ocean, its surrounding seas and surrounding land masses. It is the largest extant bear species, as well as the largest extant land carnivore.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
