Description
This is a restored copy of Flower Still Life with Fragment of a Roman Relief, 1729, oil on canvas by prominent Flemish painter Pieter Casteels III, 1684-1749. This romantic Baroque Rococo painting depicts a rich bouquet of roses, asters and other colorful flowers arranged in an energetic bouquet resting upon an ancient carved stone relief of soldiers of the Roman Empire. One of the Roman soldiers is an archer outfitted with a helmet and armed with a quiver of arrows. The entire elegant arrangement is set before a warm, rustic ethereal landscape background.
