This is a restored copy of a circa 1965 Fly TWA Jets Los Angeles / TWA, aka Trans World Airlines retro vintage chromolithograph mid century modern Los Angeles, California air travel and tourism promotional poster. Artwork by prolific TWA travel poster artist David Klein.
David Klein, 1918 - 2005, was a very a successful painter and graphic designer who was celebrated and popular in the mid 20th century for his Broadway production window cards and posters. Klein's prize winning abstract designs for Trans World Airlines became a representational style of the modern jet liner travel age. Klein garnered many honors for his TWA artworks.
Klein was a major American artist, best known for his influential work in advertising. Although he produced illustrations for Broadway theatrical productions, Hollywood films, the United States Army, and numerous corporate clients, Klein is best remembered for the iconic travel images he created for Howard Hughes and Trans World Airlines, TWA, during the 1950s and 1960s.
Trans World Airlines / TWA, was American airline which operated from 1930 until 2001. It was formed as Transcontinental & Western Air to operate a route from New York City to Los Angeles via St. Louis, Kansas City, and other stops, with Ford Trimotors.
