This is a restored copy of Going to the Meet circa 1899, an oil on canvas painting by English painter Arthur Wardle, 1864-1949.
Fox hunting is an equestrian sport involving the tracking, chase and, if caught, the killing of a fox, usually a red fox, by experienced foxhounds or other scent hounds. A group of unarmed participants, led by a "master of foxhounds", follow the hounds on foot or on horseback.
