Description
This is a restored copy of a 1908 glass negative photograph of the New York Public Library Main Branch by the Detroit Publishing Company. The monumental Beaux Arts structure was opened May 23, 1911. This famous New York City historic landmark building was designed by Thomas Hastings and John Mervin Carrere. John Jacob Astor and Andrew Carnegie were among the library's philanthropic founders. The main branch is named after Stephen A, Schwarzman and is located at Bryant Park on Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, New York City. Today this Manhattan historic landmark library is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and it is the second largest library in the United States and the third largest in the world.
