This is a restored copy of Overlooking the Valley, 1923 oil on canvas by Eanger Irving Couse, 1866-1936. Couse is a listed American artist famous for his southwestern Native American themed paintings. The original of this painting is now in the collection of the Phoenix Museum of Art. This painting depicts two western Native American men, who are apparently lookout scouts, perched on a high rocky promontory overlooking a vast landscape of a river flowing through a wide wilderness valley.
