This is a restored copy of a rare original one -of-a-kind "summons to meeting" for the Tyrian Masonic Lodge of Gloucester, Massachusetts, May 3, 5773 [1773]. This summons was engraved and created by famed American Revolutionary Massachusetts patriot and silversmith, Paul Revere.
The Tyrian Lodge was founded by Dr. Joseph Warren and Paul Revere. as the first patriot Lodge. This summons is listed in Paul Revere's account book and is signed "P. Revere."
Paul Revere, 1734 - May 10, 1818 was an American engraver, silversmith, original industrialist, and famous Patriot of the American Revolution. Revere is most famous for his midnight ride to warn the colonial American militia on April 1775 of the advance of British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, as memorialized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's dramatic historic 1861 poem, "Paul Revere's Ride".
