Description
This is a restored copy of an original antique chromolithograph cigarette advertising card from the 1888 Allen & Ginter of Richmond, Virginia American Bald Eagle. This antique patriotic American Victorian collectible tobacco card was originally issued in 1888 as part of a collection of fifty vintage wild American bird cards known as the Birds of the World Series.
Allen & Ginter was a Richmond, Virginia based tobacco products company created by John F. Allen and Lewis Ginter circa 1880. This company designed and sold the first cigarette or "tobacco" cards for collecting and trading in the United States. This collecting field is often referred to today as "tobacciana". Among A & G's more famous and popular tobacco cigarette collector trading cards were baseball players Charles Comiskey, Cap Anson, and Jack Glasscock, as well as popular Wild West personalities like Wild Buffalo Bill Cody.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
