Description
This is a restored copy of an American patchwork collage cotton and wool antique quilt that was made in 1920 by an unknown quilter. This vintage folk art quilt is made up of sewn together antique college and university and international country pennants. This unique and historic American hand made quilt also includes many rectangular pieces which were known at the time as cigarette or tobacco silks which were often included as a free gift with the purchase of cigarettes, cigars and tobacco.
The college and university pennants include Missouri with an antique portrait of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington University, Denver, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois with the portrait of a Native American Indian chief in his feathered headdress, and Harvard University. Other pennants include New Hampshire, Maine, Brazil, Michigan, Arizona and California. The rectangular collector's cigarette tobacco silk flags include Mexico, France, the United States of America, some classic vintage Native American blanket weaving designs and other countries that we cannot identify.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
