Description
La Fiesta Restaurant Mexican American Food, Cedar Street, Pecos, Texas, January 9, 1987, unrestored 35 mm film c-print by Peter Gumaer Ogden, 1957-, American.
This is an unrestored copy of the rather surreal rear of the somewhat dilapidated, apparently abandoned old La Fiesta Restaurant in sleepy Pecos, Texas, showing the empty utilitarian restrooms with their dark orange doors half open to the dry southwest Texas desert air. The hot desert sun has burned the lawn grass brown under a bright blue southwestern sky. To the right we see the shadowed front end of a vintage Ford pickup truck. Ogden created this surreal desolate and deserted Texas wasteland photo while on a 1987 cross country photo essay trip from southern New York state to the west coast.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
