Description
This is an enhanced copy of a vintage Victorian era chromolithograph published in 1880 by Henry Johnson of a group of antique dog breed varieties described by him as: Retriever, Bull Dog, Black and Tan Terrier, Setter, Chinese Dog, Pug, Skye Terrier.
This print was produced over 120 years ago so large reproductions of it might show some imperfections such as tiny white spots reflecting the quality of mass produced book illustrations of the period.
The Bulldog is a British breed of dog of mastiff type. It may also be known as the English Bulldog or British Bulldog. It is of medium size, a muscular, hefty dog with a wrinkled face and a distinctive pushed-in nose.
The pug is a breed of dog originally from China, with physically distinctive features of a wrinkly, short-muzzled face and curled tail. The breed has a fine, glossy coat that comes in a variety of colors, most often light brown or black, and a compact, square body with well-developed muscles.
The Skye Terrier is a hunting dog and enjoys a daily outing, exploring in a safe area. It also needs a short to moderate walk with its owner to stay in shape. The Skye enjoys life as a housedog, and prefers not to live outdoors. So, owners should not keep them outdoors as their natural habitats.
A retriever is a type of gun dog that retrieves game for a hunter. Generally gun dogs are divided into three major classifications: retrievers, flushing spaniels, and pointing breeds. Retrievers were bred primarily to retrieve birds or other prey and return them to the hunter without damage; retrievers are distinguished in that nonslip retrieval is their primary function.
The Fine Art America logo does not appear on the final product.
